Motors by SOMFY
Motorized drapery
Drapes that open on their own
Motorized drapes pair the custom drapery we design for your home with a motor hidden in the track. Your designer picks the fabric, lining and pleat, sizes the motor to the weight of the panels, and has everything programmed before your first tap.

How it works
How a Motorized Drapery Track Works
Ceiling mountWall mountCenter drawOne-way drawRipplefoldPinch pleat
The motor sits at the end of a slim track mounted to the ceiling or wall. Your panels ride on carriers that glide along the track, so the fabric is never pulled by hand and the leading edges stay clean.
Center-draw tracks part in the middle for windows and French doors. One-way draw stacks everything to one side, which is often the better choice for sliders facing the pool.
Fabrics and linings
Drapery Built for Florida Sun
SheerLinen blendsBlackout liningThermal liningFade resistant
Florida sun is hard on fabric. We help you choose fabrics and linings that hold their color, with blackout lining where you want a dark bedroom and thermal lining where you want a cooler room.
Layer motorized drapes with sheers or a shade behind them and run both from one button, so you can go from soft daylight to full privacy without leaving the couch. See our custom drapery for every fabric and pleat style.
Where it pays off
Where Motorized Drapes Make the Most Sense
Motorization changes how often drapes actually get used. These are the rooms where Florida homeowners notice it most.
Two-Story Rooms
Panels you could never reach
Great rooms and stairwell windows finally open and close every day, not once a season.
Window Walls
One tap for the whole wall
Wide sliders and walls of glass open evenly, with no tugging and no worn leading edges.
Bedrooms
Blackout on a schedule
Lined drapes close at bedtime and open with the sunrise, without getting out of bed.
Seasonal Homes
Open and close while away
Set schedules or move the drapes from your phone so the house looks lived in.

Control options
Open Your Drapes the Way You Live
Use one way to control your drapes or combine a few. You can always add more later.
Remotes & Wall Switches
Open one panel or the whole room with a handheld remote or a wall switch. No Wi-Fi or app needed.
Phone App
Control your drapes from anywhere, create scenes, and set schedules right from your phone.
Voice Control
Works with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant, so “close the bedroom drapes” just works.
Whole-Home Automation
Tie your drapes into Control4, Savant, Crestron and other systems alongside lighting and climate.
Works with: Amazon Alexa · Google Assistant · SmartThings · Control4 · Savant · Crestron
Scenes and schedules
Set It Once and Let Your Drapes Take Over
- Scenes. One “Good Night” button closes the bedroom drapes and the living room sheers together.
- Sunrise and sunset. Drapes open with the morning light and close as the afternoon sun hits the west windows.
- Away mode. Move your drapes from your phone while you are traveling so the house looks lived in.
- Layered control. Run drapes, sheers and shades in the same room from a single remote.
Your schedules are set up at installation and walked through with you, so everything works the way you want from day one.
The right motor for every track
We size the motor to your drapery
A pair of sheers and a 20-foot run of lined drapery need very different motors. We choose each motor based on the size and weight of the panels, then match it with the power option that fits your home.
You do not have to know any of this going in. Your designer handles it during the consultation and measuring.
Hardwired or Plug-In
Steady power with nothing to recharge. The usual choice for drapery, and easy to plan in a new build or remodel.
Rechargeable Battery
No new wiring for lighter panels and sheers, which makes it the simple way to add motorization to an existing home.
Built for Heavy, Wide Runs
Lined drapery across a full wall of glass gets a higher-capacity motor so it moves smoothly and evenly for years.

Pricing
What Drives the Price of Motorized Drapes
Every panel is made to measure, so we quote after your free consultation. These five things decide the number.
Window Width
Wider runs need more fabric, a longer track and sometimes a larger motor.
Fabric & Lining
Sheers cost less than lined or blackout drapery.
Panels & Tracks
Motorizing a whole room costs less per window than one window alone.
Power & Mounting
Plug-in, hardwired or battery, ceiling or wall mount.
Controls
A remote is included. The app hub adds schedules, scenes and voice.

Questions
Motorized Drapes FAQ
Can you motorize the drapes I already have?
Sometimes. It depends on the weight of the panels, how they hang and the hardware they are on. We will look at them during your consultation and tell you whether moving them to a motorized track makes sense or new drapery is the better value.
Do motorized drapes work during a power outage?
Hardwired and plug-in drapery motors stop until power returns, and you can still move the panels by hand. If you want them to run through an outage, ask your designer about battery options or backup power.
How wide can a single motorized track go?
Wide enough for most window walls and sliders. Very long runs may be split into two tracks or use a higher-capacity motor. Your designer plans this at measuring.
Should the track be mounted on the ceiling or the wall?
Ceiling mounting makes windows look taller and works well for floor-to-ceiling glass. Wall mounting is common above standard windows. We recommend the best option for each room during your visit.
Are motorized drapes loud?
No. The motors are designed for quiet operation, so drapes moving early in the morning will not wake the house.
Do motorized drapes work with Alexa and Google?
Yes. With the app hub, your drapes work with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant, and they can tie into whole-home systems like Control4, Savant and Crestron.
How long does it take from consultation to installation?
Every drapery panel is made to order. Your designer gives you a fabrication and installation timeline with your quote, so you know your install date before you commit.
What is covered under warranty?
Every product includes our 7-year warranty. Somfy also backs its motors with a 5-year manufacturer warranty.
